Tasmanian Devil
Staying in a hut near Cradle Mountain, it was not until nightfall that we learned we shared our quarters with another. Maybe not cuddly but certainly mischievous, the Tasmanian Devil knows how to make a racket! Being nocturnal creatures, it was the start of her day when we decided to rest our weary heads. Half-knowing it could only be a devil keeping us awake, I was also alarmed and curious about why it was making so much noise. Taking my torched, I peered under the wooden planks of our hut into her home and saw the reason for the revelry: our host had a baby devil who was playing and crawling all over her – such a wonderful sight.
